Yes. It’s out already.MacBook Pro refresh for 2011 is here already.
After reading about MacBook Pro refresh today, I have seen the official price for MacBook Pro and MacBook Air for Malaysia.
MacBook Air new price list.
MacBook Air 11-inch with 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 64GB Flash Memory is RM3, 099.00.
MacBook Air 11-inch with 1.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 128GB Flash Memory is RM3, 6999.00.

MacBook Air 13-inch with 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 256GB Flash Memory is RM4, 999.00.
My personal opinion: I would not buy these machines unless I really have a lot of $$$ to spare. I could get 2 iPads with this price. This is just my 2 cents. 🙂
MacBook Pro new price list.
MacBook Pro 13-inch with 2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, 320GB 5400-rpm is RM3, 699.00.
MacBook Pro 13-inch with 2.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i7, 500GB 5400-rpm is RM4, 599.00.
MacBook Pro 15-inch with 2.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, 500GB 5400-rpm, AMD Radeon HD 6490M with 256MB GDDRSÂ is RM5, 499.00.
MacBook Pro 15-inch with 2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, 750GB 5400-rpm, AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 1GB GDDRSÂ is RM6, 799.00.
MacBook Pro 17-inch with 2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, 750GB 5400-rpm, AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 1GB GDDRSÂ is RM7, 699.00.
The MacBook 13″ series get a new update which is the dual-core Intel Core i5 ranging from 2.3Ghz – 2.7GHz and the hard space is seeing a better light with 320GB and 500GB for higher end for MacBook 13″. The MacBook 13″ doesn’t have any dedicated graphics but it seems that Intel’s new 3000 series of new graphics is much better than previous offering.
And MacBook 15″ series get a better update which is all their processors are using dual-core/quad-core Intel Core i7. And all of them has dedicated graphics which is AMD Radeon HD 6XXXM with 256MB/1GB GDDRS. For those of who is in need of speed, then you can consider the higher end of the MacBook 15″ series with 2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7. For those who are speed addicts, there are options for 15″ and 17″ to upgrade their SSDs to 128GB, 256GB and 512GB as add-ons options.
Finally, the 17″ MacBook. Everything’s the same with the higher end of 15″ MacBook Pro but with the difference of 2″ in term of size. Is it worth your RM900? For my opinion, I don’t need such a big size and it will be quite heavy and bulky.
Finally, a Sandy Bridge powered machines. Will you trade in or sell off your current MacBook to buy these new ones? I wonder how much is MacBook Pro and MacBook Air in Singapore? What will be the price difference between Malaysia and Singapore?
Things are indeed getting cheaper. I still remember when I first bought my MacBook way back in 2007. It was RM5, 299. The most expensive laptop that I have ever bought and the specs are not even close to the RM3, 699. Anyhow, I still love my MacBook and it’s still serves me very well. So, if you ask me should I buy an Apple or Orange(we call PCs as orange)? I will definitely buy Apple. It’s so worth it. 🙂
Go get one and share your experince here. My hands are getting itchy already. So many Apples to buy. I am planning to get iPad first. The rest, I need to save my $$$. Aargh!!! Wish I am the son of Bill Gates Steve Jobs. Then, everything’s free. Ya, keep dreaming…
What’s your say?
i would like to change my imac.. will they revise the price of iMac too?? hahaha
You are so nice to have an iMac. I am dreaming for one and saving my $$$ for one. *admire* Wait for the iMac 2011 refresh and they might revise the price or offer a better spec for the same price. Let’s wait and see. Gambate.
I would say Mac is a piece of shit. I just brought one Macbook Pro 13″ old version a week before the new one came out and the new one costs much cheaper and better than the one im using right now. I mean they supposed to tell us that the new one was about to be offered before I purchased. I just have to say that I got burst out when they sent me an email telling me that “Haha our new pro is out!” I was like WTH!!
Yeah. It’s like that. My 1st MacBook is also like that. They never mentioned when will the next refresh or price revision will come. When I bought MacBook that time it was RM5299 and only after a few months time, the price dropped to RM4000++ with better specs. I was like WTF? That’s their business practice. So, got to be more careful and always check online for more information before purcashing products.
Pity you. Well, your comment will serve a very good reminder for others who wanted to buy MacBook. Usually MacBook Pro will be refreshed in February. So, if you are thinking of getting one, now is the best time. If you are considering to buy one end of 2011, I will strongly suggest you to wait until February 2012 for the next MacBook Pro refresh 2012.
