iPhone 5 June 2011 Launch will be delayed to October 2011?

Well, this is really a sad piece of news for me. I have been waiting for iPhone 5 for so long just to get a chance to enjoy an iPhone.

The Internet has been full of speculation about the delay of iPhone 5 summer launch to fall launch.

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2011 will be in San Francisco on 6-10 June 2011.

One of the reasons that sparks off the rumors is the picture above. It is stated clearly that Apple will be focusing more on the software part of Apple’s ecosystem which is the iOS 5 and their latest Mac OS X, Lion rather than the hardware part which is iPhone 5. It is said that Mac OS X 10.7 Lion will be shipping in summer 2011.

It seems that Apple will not follow their traditional product launch pattern with iPhone 5. Apple traditionally launches the iPhone 5 during their annual WWDC in June/July.

Another reason is that Apple might be buying some time to integrate LTE 4G into their iPhone 5. Apple might not be taking the chances with the market since a lot of Android devices will be equipped with LTE capabilities. Apple tend to take the wait and see approach with new telecommunications technology just like their 1st iPhone debut comes with EDGE only instead of 3G.

Steve Cheney from TechCrunch who predicted correctly the time of launch of Verizon iPhone last year guessed again about the probability of LTE coming to iPhone 5 in different time frame. 0%- 10% for summer launch, 50% for fall launch and 100% for iPhone launch in January 2011 (this is so bad!!! Cause iPhone 5 will come even later to Malaysia!).

AppleInsider said that Apple still haven’t placed any orders for components of iPhone 5 based on the sources from Chinese supply chain. They even say that iPhone 5 will not contribute to Apple’s 2011 fiscal year. Apple’s fiscal year ends on September 24, 2011. If it’s true, Apple will launch iPhone 5 after Sept 24, 2011, which will be either late September 2011 or early October 2011.

Anyhow, I am really sad for the late launch of iPhone 5 but I am quite happy that iPhone 5 might be featuring 4G technology. If it’s true, I really do hope that YES 4G might be bringing iPhone 5 to Malaysia!
