www.johnkhor.com @ John Khor in Guang Ming Daily Newspaper

1st from left: John Khor. In case you don’t know who am I.

Yeah!!! This is my first time in newspaper with a big picture in the newspaper. Yeah, I say big picture because I don’t always have a chance to be featured in newspaper right?

I am the 2nd runner-up of this Let’s Blog Penang contest. And the prize is RM500. Cool, right? And the whole post took me around 1 1/2 hours to write and upload the pictures and another 1/2 hour to touch up the whole post. And the best part, I did it at the last minute of blog registration. Whew… I am so lucky. Thanks to the judges, BlogFest Asia 2010 and Ministry of Tourism Malaysia.

BlogFest Asia 2010 @ Penang SUCKS!!!

Blogfest Asia 2010 @ Penang Wawasan Open University

BlogFest Asia 2010 @ Wawasan Open University, Penang.

That’s what I felt before actually attending the event.

Why I felt that way?

I got to know about BlogFest Asia 2010 while I was surfing the Internet. The thing that attracted me the most was the event was held in Penang at Wawasan Open University. As I had never attended any bloggers event, I quickly registered.

Shortly after that, I received an email from the organiser, informing me that The Ministry of Tourism Malaysia sponsored a Penang Heritage Tour on the 1st day of BlogFest Asia 2010. Again, I quickly sent an email to register.

It was a day before the Penang Heritage Tour and still no news from anyone from the organising committees. My you-got-to-be-efficient-&-effective button was activated and I was very angry. I emailed them again and finally a guy called Vincent replied me and everything was settled. Continue reading

Rediscovering Penang with BlogFest Asia 2010!

BlogFest Asia 2010 @ PenangTourism Malaysia Logo

Recently I had attended BlogFest Asia 2010 held in Penang, Malaysia and I had a chance to rediscover Penang. Yes, I used the word rediscover because I am Penangnite and there are many heritage places that I have never visited before.

How irony! Many people always wanted to go overseas trip but know little about the attractions in their own hometowns.

So, I registered myself for the Penang Heritage Tour, co-organised by BlogFest Asia 2010 & Ministry of Tourism Malaysia. A Penangnite going for a Penang Heritage Tour. I might become the laughing stock but I know this is a good chance for me to learn about Penang.

We started off by gathering at Wawasan Open University. There were about 35++ people registered in this trip. We have people coming from Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam Indonesia Taiwan, Hongkong, Singapore, United States and also several other Penangnites and Malaysians. Continue reading
